It had just been tied, 10 minutes earlier. Like the left one, it felt comfortably tight as I left home for a stroll in the sunshine. Before I reached the grassy meadow, however, I looked down at the graveled path and noticed that my neon lime-green shoelace was undone.

Bending down to retie it at the top of the trail, I was reminded of a conversation 5 year old grandson Oliver and I had in 2016 about Nike. Turns out both his and my tennis shoes displayed the swoosh, Nike’s sweeping logo.

When he realized that, he commented about how we have one more thing in common now to add to his list (having curly hair, liking blueberries, making up songs about anything that comes to mind and sometimes dancing like Elaine on Seinfeld flailing ourselves about and giggling together about it until we fall down).

“We think alike, Gramma, don’t we?”

As I recalled that moment and was standing back up, I caught a glimpse of my shadow. The hood to my jacket had stayed on my head when I stood, causing my silhouette to look like some robed character from Stars Wars.

God’s love-whispers brought me back to what it seemed He was nudging me to know today:

“Whenever life’s circumstances swoosh in to take you off course into fear or worry or distraction from living abundantly, put Me on like a robe. Snuggle into the head-to-toe comfort of My presence right there with you.

Allow My Word to envelop you. Soak up My way of thinking until it becomes yours.

So that you’re gradually moving in that direction with each opportunity I’ll provide for you, whether it’s in the midst of an ordinary day or through periods of challenge to your faith.

So that you will be more aware of becoming blessedly assured that we do indeed think alike, My child, don’t we?”

What would be different for each of us if we lived like we ACTUALLY BELIEVED what God thinks about us and life in Him? How do we think more and more like God does about things?

If we’re open to noticing, I’m certain that God will direct us to for-that-moment insights with the messages He has for us!

Maybe He will lead us to a song or verse of Scripture, or to pick up a pen and jot some thoughts down to come back to later…or perhaps to release our striving after His guidance entirely and just go outside and dance in the sunshine.

Whatever it is, He uses it all to pass His mindset onto us. How energizing is that?!
