I understand how overwhelming it can be, even to get started. I almost waited too long…

It breaks my heart that so many women haven’t started capturing personal and family memories in writing. We’ve all taken (and inherited) lots of photos, but the really juicy “behind-the-photos stuff” doesn’t have to be lost. Those mini-moments can be easily preserved and enjoyed, now and for generations.

I love to encourage as many Moms and Grammas as possible to start jotting down their “heart stories”: capturing what lights, chokes or cracks them up about moments they’ve lived in their growing up, parenting and grandparenting years.

So they can enjoy re-living, sharing and passing on those stories

in ways that create energized, deeper-connected families.

I was blessed to have reminiscing time with my Mom, to excavate her treasure of memories, and to be able to share them with my children, grandchildren and preserve them for future generations…before it was too late. It was an eye-opening, choking-up-with-tears-and-laughter experience that has brought our family closer than we had ever been before.

The photos seemed to serve as a launching off place. The heart-of-the-matter stories bubbled up with ease as my gentle questioning followed her “oh, I’ve gone off on another tangent” into the best gems of memory. Then more moments bubbled up from within my own memory pool.

Those are the mini-stories (her snippets of life and mine) I’ve been jotting down.

And what I want to help you do!

As creator/facilitator of Jottings for Generations workshops and mini-retreats for 19 years, I like combining methods and techniques into unexpected experiences for my clients, and am overjoyed when they realize something in their approach to reminiscence just transformed…and it didn’t feel like they were trying to make family connection happen, it just did and it was fun!

When we work together, I’ll draw from my past experiences as a certified teacher of curriculum based on the Turning Memories into Memoirs program and PhotoScribe method of the Memoir Lifestory Network (whew, that’s a mouthful of words!).

I’ve also enjoyed being a Freelance Facilitator of nationwide focus group discussions, specializing in Children’s Market Research and a Corporate Trainer, Kindergarten Teacher, and Women’s Spiritual Retreat Leader.

Families are like quilts…lives pieced together,

stitched with memories, and bound by love.

I’m delighted by life! I relish time spent with my husband of 34 years, our daughter and two sons and their families, including 8 grandchildren. Since we all live within 30 minutes of each other, I’m blessed to have frequent Gramma-time. I love walking in the woods, journaling with God, and mint chocolate chip ice cream.
